damaged spectacles given for repair

I had given my spectacles to a local optical shop to replace the frame on 16th Apr 09(yesterday), today when I went to receive the same I was shocked by seeing that the lenses had been damaged by heat, The shopkeeper does not want to compensate anything for the damage, I want to know how can I get help from consumer courts to get the proper compensation. Please note that I was not informed of any possible damage which could be caused. Please let me know what can be done in this regard, one more thing I had paid Rs 500 (still with the shop keeper) as advance and my lens cost is Rs.2000.
